Welcome to the SDMUG Web Site
May 15th, 2008
 |
The San Diego Macintosh User Group is a non-profit, Apple-recognized association dedicated to bringing people together to share information on computer and technology trends for the personal & professional enrichment of its members.

We have a local School Support Program with a core of volunteers who are interested in helping schools return their computer labs to the best condition possible, free of charge. Public or private, from K through 12.

No matter what level of Mac user you are, there is a place for you in SDMUG. |

May 7 General Meeting: How to Create, Configure and Send Mass E-Mails Responsibly

On Wednesday, May 7, the San Diego Macintosh User Group's presentation will show you how you can create, configure and send this type of e-mail. While the process can be abused, it can also be used to responsibly deliver any type of information via e-mail. This is what we've used (in text-only format until this month) for the SDMUG for the last few years.
We'll cover how to get your mailing list (Filemaker, Address Book, Excel, even a regular text document), clean it up and bulletproof it, how and why to write your e-mail in both HTML and text, how to configure your account settings to send the e-mail, how to avoid having your e-mail caught in spam filters, how to preview what your send BEFORE you send, and how to manage recipients who wish to be taken off your list. Our main tools for doing this will include FileMaker,
Dreamweaver CS3, MaxBulk Mailer, eMail Extractor, eMail Verifier, and Apple Mail.
Remember that our SDMUG membership renewal is upon us, and we survive with the support of our members. Hoping to simplify the process, we can now accept credit cards. You can either swipe your card at the meeting, or fax in a renewal form. (Click here for the web form.) We're looking forward to bringing you the best in Macs over the coming year so your support is important.
The general meeting is always free to the public and provides a great chance to learn new skills and do some networking with a great group of folks, so please come by and join us.
"Dinner after the meeting!" Of importance to those who may be starving after the meeting, we will return to our unofficial "Meeting after the meeting" ritual at a nearby restaurant.
