August 6 General Meeting:

 On Wednesday, August 6th, the SDMUG welcomes NIK Software as our presenter. NIK Software is possibly the most successful developer of Photoshop plug-ins with the exceptional Color Efex Pro, NIK Sharpener, Viveza and more. And NIK Software is headquartered right here in San Diego!

Directions:
From north of La Jolla(I-5/805 interchange): take Interstate 5 south to exit west (right) on La Jolla Village Drive. Go about 1/2-mile to the first stop light at the top of the hill. This is La Jolla Scenic Drive North, where you turn left (south.) Continue past one stop sign, one more block where you will turn right (west.) Go 100' down the hill to the first entrance on the left, into the parking lot. The meeting hall is the large building at the far right.
From Highway 52: Take 52 West, over the hill into La Jolla. IMMEDIATELY after cresting the hill, take the exit to the right. This is La Jolla Scenic Drive North. Follow this street for about 1/2-mile. The church facility is on the left (west) side of the street, one block before the first stop sign. Go 100' down the hill to the first entrance on the left, into the parking lot. The meeting hall is the large building at the far right.

July 2 General Meeting:
Blogs, Wikis and MobileMe!
 On Wednesday, July 2nd, the SDMUG presenters will give us a taste of what the cutting edge offers. Blogs, wikis, and shared workspaces. Everyone talks about them, but can they really make your life better?
Daniel Novak, M.A., will talk about ways to use these powerful technologies to stay in touch with family and friends, organize your media and memories, and to engage in new, exciting projects. (Side note: Even the US Supreme Court uses a blog to announce its decisions!)
Plus, the UTC Apple store will give a preview of Apple's new MobileMe product.
Remember that our SDMUG membership renewal is upon us. Our User Group survives ONLY with the support of our members. Hoping to simplify the process, we can now accept credit cards. June 4 General Meeting:
Fred Greaves: Photographer, Journalist, Artist, Instructor
 On Wednesday, June 4th, the SDMUG hosts a very special presenter. Many will recognize his name, and most have already seen his work in newspapers, magazines and feature articles worldwide. Fred Greaves is passionate about communicating through his photography. Whether in the middle of a raging wildfire, a location shoot or in the studio, this 19-year veteran's eye has captured images for a vast number of notable clients.
Fred has a well earned reputation for turning adverse situations into art and for delivering beautiful photographs in the most pressure packed environments. When Fred isn't looking through the lens, he's made time to teach at UCSD and Point Loma Nazarene as well as being a sponsored instructor for Panasonic's Digital Photo Academy.
Being a long time Apple computer user, Fred will share:
The software he uses in his workflow and why he selected it.
What hardware he uses: cameras, computer, flash memory, readers, modems
How he gets his images from the field to the newsrooms within minutes
What format image to use for different tasks
How he archives his images
Some of his photographic work and experiences.
Answer questions from the audience.

The general meeting was held at 6:30 pm, May 5th at Cox Communications, 5651 Copley Drive in San Diego. This month we covered several valuable Mac shareware and freeware applications. The different apps were presented by members of the SDMUG board.
